THE VANDERBILT ROOM
Our largest room at 16' x 21' the richly-appointed Vanderbilt Room has a king-sized mahogany poster bed with reeded posts carved with ribbons, as does the canopy frame. The hand-carved mahogany entertainment center is adorned with acanthus leaves, flowers, and blind fretwork. These are reproductions of 18th-century pieces. In the large bay window looking out on the 100-year-old oak trees is a luxurious white Chinese Chippendale sofa. The wing chair next to the fireplace is covered with very old Indian crewel embroidery. The very large bath is 14' x 12', and has an enormous double whirlpool tub, from which you can enjoy the fireplace-as you can from the glass-surrounded separate shower. Rate: $325.
