Recent Changes at the Mansion
The mansion's renovation was completed by Ripley and Owen in 1997. This was their third bed and breakfast inn and for each of the inns their goal was the same: To specialize in stress reduction. It is our goal still.
The house was opened as Biltmore Village Inn in September, 2001. And, no, there were no furnishings or accessories left from the original owners. You can read the history of the house here.
The inn changed ownership in early 2007 after Ripley and Owen decided to slow down from the long hours required to operate a bed and breakfast. A majority of the antiques located throughout the inn were transported from France and Belgium in late 2006. The collection of the current antique furniture was a tireless effort of travelling through the European countryside over a period of four years. Various pieces were purchased directly from French and Belgian chateaus.
Additionally, a significant amount of wine and gourmet cuisine was consumed during the search, which included staying in excess of 75 European castles and chateaus.
We are eternally grateful to Ripley and Owen for assisting during the transition phase and appreciate their friendship going forward; Ripley remains a partner in the business.
Considerable efforts were expended by the partners from Day One to continue to improve the inn to meet our high standards. The inn was completely redecorated within six months. We cut the ribbon and held a party for neighbors, friends, and the Chamber to celebrate the changes.
As you can see in the photo gallery and feedback from guests, the decorations and upgrades are fantastic and have exceeded our expectations.
In addition we are very grateful to the staff, who have assisted us during the transition and continue to receive compliments from guests for their friendly and professional approach in making our guests feel at home.
We are very excited about carrying on with the tradition of the inn and invite our guests to feel at home during their stay with us.
